The festival received a generous donation from the Haldimand Choralairs. Pictured here (l to r) is Karen Richardson, Andy Blackwood, Anne Fosbury, Pam Milroy.
This month the Haldimand Choralairs close the final chapter of their 50 plus years on a positive note. After not only entertaining the local community, they also represented the area at Expo 67 in Montreal and Expo 69 in Vancouver. Probably the main highlight was singing the National Anthem in Ottawa at the Millennium 2000 celebration. Internationally, they represented us at concerts in San Antonio Texas at the World's Fair and at a competition in Llangollen Wales in 1974. Each director brought their own personality, talent and music expertise to the choir, thus enhancing and broadening the scope of their repertoire, namely, George Shippey, Clyde Cope, Geoffrey Boulivant, Stillman Matheson and Carlos Arcila. The choir's music was donated to local choirs and to the Canadian Celtic Choir in London Ontario. As their encore they are donating their proceeds to local charities; namely, West Haldimand General Hospital, Haldimand War Memorial Hospital and Norfolk Musical Arts Festival. The Choralairs would like to thank the local community for their loyalty and support over the years.
